Depending on the type of surgery, patients may be admitted either on the day of surgery or the day before. Fasting and admission times will be advised by the hospital on the day prior (usually in the afternoon). You may be required to attend a preadmission clinic in the hospital where you will have your operation to facilitate a pre-anaesthetic assessment. Patients taking blood thinning medications such as aspirin, eliquis, clopidogrel or warfarin may need to stop these prior to surgery and Dr.Murugesan will adivise you at the time of consultation. If you are a diabetic on medications, please consult either your general practitioner or the anaesthetist for changes to the medication dosage, prior to your procedure.
