Your Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy is usually a day only procedure performed in hospital. You will receive instructions regarding bowel preparation at the time of your consultation. The bowel preparation is essential for a successful colonoscopy. Hence, please read the instructions very carefully. If bowel preparation is inadequate, the complete examination (including the bowel preparation) may have to be repeated. Bowel preparation products are laxatives that rapidly eliminate solid waste from the gastrointestinal tract with ensuing diarrhea. You will need someone to take you home after the colonoscopy and should not drive or work until the following day.
